Kniphofia Sunshine

Botanical Information:Kniphofia Sunshine
The Kniphofia belongs to the genus Liliaceae and consists of about 70 African species. There are summer as well as winter flowering varieties, ranging from huge plants to almost diminutive species of only a few inches high.

The colour range is mainly in the red, orange and yellow shades with some of the newer hybrids showing signs of true pink, salmon, apricot, cream, coral and even green.

Horticultural Use:
The Kniphofia is generally a hardy perennial, growing very well in even the colder European countries where they come into bloom very quickly at the onset of the short European summers.

It is used as a landscape product as well as a container grown or dry bulb product. The smaller cultivars are ideally suited to the potplant trade and also quite a few of the newer hybrids are now being used for the cutflower market.
